Growing Demands for ERW Pipes in Indian Industries Make It Profitable Proposition for Entrepreneurs

Electric Resistance Welded Pipe that is also known as ERW pipe and it is made of strips of steel that is hot rolled and passed through forming rolls and finally welded together. In the past industries preferred seamless pipes as they are traditionally stronger. But the fact remains that these seamless pipes are also expensive. Moreover, with the vast improvement in technology, such pipes are now taking the drivers seat in the industrial circle. Bulk purchases are conducted using ERW pipe tenders and responding to them for winning seems to be a substantially profitable proposition for a budding entrepreneur in the field.

Factors Contributing to Popularity of ERW Pipes
Some of the major factors contributing to the popularity and rising demands for procurement of ERW pipes in the industrial circles are as follows -
  • These are not inferior in strength in comparison to their seamless counterparts.
  • With technological improvements they are able to suitably replace the seamless pipes that were hitherto more popular in the market.
  • These pipes are inexpensive in comparison.
  • They constitute around 48% of the annual shipments in terms of tonnage.
Commensurate with the growing popularity of these types of pipes numerous ERW pipe tenders are floating in the market thus creating a major opportunity for people trying to promote their business.

Major Sources of ERW Pipe Tenders
Major sources of ERW Pipe tenders come from both public and private sectors. One of the major procurers of these pipes in the public sector is the department of public health and sanitation. Others are Rural Development, Housing and Urban Development, Industries, and Water Resources departments. In the private sector all the major industrial houses are procuring huge amount of pipes to cater to their various requirements.

Indirect Sources
Multiple organizations in India are engaged in manufacturing as well as exporting of qualitative pipes that are used in various works in both public and private sectors. Different types of pipes such as the black pipes, conduit pipes, hot and deep galvanized pipes, scaffolding pipes, casing pipes, and general engineering pipes come in the category of such pipes. Since major manufacturers always lookout for some agencies to sell their product on their behalf instead of shipping the products on their own it offers excellent business opportunities for budding entrepreneurs in the field.

Proper Response to ERW Tenders
In any case it would be extremely important responding in the perfect manner to the ERW tenders floated either by the buyers or by the manufacturers for finding efficient retailers. Both buyers and distributors always look for the best in the field and the way an aspirant has filled out the tender response will count much towards deciding the eligibility for winning the tender.
After all; a case well presented is already half won.

Laying Pipe Tenders Require Technical Background

Pipes are required for various purposes. It is used for water supply systems, sewerage and drainage lines in the public sector, for residential water supply and sewerage lines in the private sectors by builders and for oil and gas supplies in the industrial sectors in large industrial houses.Usually all the large scale transactions relating to such pipe laying works are concluded using laying pipe tenders. However, bidding and winning such tenders require some technical background and knowledge since it involves several technical aspects like excavating, embedding, and aligning the pipelines.

Laying of pipes is required for various purposes. While the common requirement is that of setting up water supply or sewerage systems in any place, there could be other requirements like transporting oil and gas through the pipeline installed. Another less pronounced requirement is for carrying underground cables and concealed wiring. Most of the major projects are finalized through laying pipe tenders.

Residential and Community Pipelines
  • Residential pipe lines are set up usually for two purposes. One is for water supply in and around the house and the other one is sewerage system for the residence.
  • Community pipelines are used for water supply in the inhabitations whether in towns or in cities and even in modern villages; for setting up general sewerage lines and for installing underground cables for electricity or telephone systems.
  • A third type is laying of pipe lines for commercial or industrial purposes of transporting gas, fluid, chemicals, or oil.
It is the community, commercial, and industrial works that are carried out or finalized using laying pipe tenders.

Major Sources for Laying Pipe Tenders
Some of the major sources of such tenders are:
  • Public authorities like the Water Supply and Sanitation Department, in other words the Public Health Department.
  • Railways and port authorities where pipes are used for multiple purposes.
  • Industrial houses that require pipelines for various purposes like carrying out their supply system of fuels, chemicals, and others.
Requirements for Bidders
Bidders desirous of bidding for the laying pipe tenders have to take into consideration the following factors.
  • Relevant drawings and specifications to which they must conform.
  • They should have the technical knowledge and experience to undertake such works. Especially excavations need to be water free, and they should be laid, jointed as well as embedded with sufficient backfill materials.
Unlike most other works, proper alignment is extremely important in case of installation of pipe lines. Therefore the bidder should properly assess the plan and see to it that joining, cutting, and aligning are properly conducted. Works with two types of pipes form the basis of laying pipe tenders. These are works with reinforced concrete pipes and HDPE profile wall pipes. In either case, embedment of pipes is necessary for successful completion of the work.
