Major Sources of Kerala Tender
While the government continues to be one of the largest sources of Kerala tender and continues to be so from the inception of the state, there has been substantial growth of tender procurements in the private sector as well. While the growth of enterprises in the state has been over 9% during the last five years against the national growth rate of 4.80%, few of these enterprises are large scale business houses.
A major source of Kerala tender is the NRI investments. Keralite population in the Gulf countries were calculated at around 2.5 million by 2008 and they send back home a sum of around 7 billion U.S dollars per annum which is a large source of tender procurements in the state. Around 1.2 million fishermen haul over seven hundred thousand tons of fishes every year along the 590 kilometers long coasts residing in over three hundred fishing villages. A factor that has substantially contributed to tender procurements in the state is the widespread banking network available in the state. Over 3,500 banking branches are spread over the state and the state has third highest bank penetration in the country.
